The beating heart of the QUASAR is the row unit. With decades of experience in corn fields, the dynamics of properly harvesting corn has been studied by Capello engineers with maximum attention to detail. No measurement can be too precise, no relationship is irrelevant, no angle or speed has been ignored. The essence of Capello harvesting perfection is the most intricate balance of mechanics and engineering being employed in the row unit to create a harmony in the process of harvesting a corn plant.

The deck plates are built of specially hardened steel and cold-pressed to the optimum shape for a clean, precise picking of the ear. Gathering chains are driven with deep-tooth sprockets and utilize a polyurethane idler sprocket that will deflect against an obstruction without throwing the chain off track. The gathering chains themselves have a short pitch with large paddles, but are tapered toward the rear to prevent trash collection. The gearboxes are made of aluminum fusion material which is lighter but more wear-resistant and designed for optimized lubrication of all moving components: state-of-the-art in gearbox technology. Each row unit is robotically tested before being mounted to screen for dozens of indicators – virtually eliminating premature gearbox failure in the field.

The integrated stalk chopper drive system creates a naturally feeding system between the knife rollers and the stalk choppers. The profile of the choppers and the relative angles created by the system allow for the cleanest and lowest chop available, while preventing windrowing and power loss due to over-chopping. The evenly cut and evenly distributed stalk remnants allow for faster nutrient reabsorption, quicker organic matter breakdown and a much more efficient and accurate planting bed in the spring.

Available for every combine model and with nearly every row spacing from 20-inch to 40-inch – the Quasar is built to meet your demands.
